Frequently Asked Questions
The Questions You Ask Most
You have questions you would rather ask before you book, and that is fair. These are the ones we hear most in the treatment room in Apopka. If yours is not here, text us at (407) 335-4055.
01
Before You Book
A med spa gives you medical treatment in a room that feels calm. At Golden Rose Wellness & Medical Spa in Apopka, that covers Botox, fillers, laser, microneedling and medical-grade facials. Every treatment runs to the clinical standard set by our founder, Dr. Kimberly Ayala Vega, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner.
Tipping is never expected at a medical clinic. Some patients leave a gratuity after a facial, and that is entirely their choice. It never applies to a nurse-led medical treatment, and no one here will ask you about it.
Yes. Every first visit starts as a consultation, so Dr. Vega can review your health history and look at your skin properly. She tells you what she recommends and what it costs before anything is booked. You can book online or call us.
02
Botox & Wrinkle Relaxers
Botox is a purified protein that relaxes the muscle folding the skin above it. Soften that movement and the line on your forehead or between your brows softens with it. Dr. Vega watches how your face actually moves before she decides the dose.
Your muscle movement returns gradually as the product wears off. Most people start to see the line again before their next appointment, so we set a maintenance rhythm together. Dr. Vega tells you when to come back based on how your own face held it.
Not straight away. Movement starts softening over the first several days, and the result keeps settling for a while after that. Any adjustment waits for your review appointment, once the product has fully taken hold.
Botox is botulinum toxin type A, purified into a protein and measured in units. In the small cosmetic doses used on your face, it acts only on the muscle it is placed into. Your body then breaks it down naturally.
Botox has a long safety record when a trained medical injector places it in appropriate doses. Side effects are usually mild and short-lived, like a small bruise or a heavy feeling in the brow. Dr. Vega reviews your health history before she treats you.
There is no evidence that Botox causes cancer. It is a purified protein given in tiny doses that act on one targeted muscle and then break down naturally. Current evidence shows it does not travel through your body or affect your DNA.
Botox is priced by the unit, and how many units you need depends on the muscle treated and how strongly it moves. We do not publish a figure, because yours would be a guess. You get the whole number at your consultation, before anything is booked.
Dysport is another botulinum toxin type A product. It relaxes expression muscles the way Botox does, and it can spread a little further across an area, which some injectors prefer on the forehead. Dr. Vega recommends the product that suits the area she is treating.
03
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are gels, usually hyaluronic acid, that put structure back where your face has lost volume. Dr. Vega uses them to soften a fold, restore a flat cheek, refine the lip or sharpen the jawline. You see the change the same day, and it holds while your body slowly breaks the gel down.
Judge it at your follow-up, once early swelling has gone down and the gel has integrated with your own tissue. Dr. Vega books that review so the result is assessed properly. Day one is a poor judge of anything.
Lip filler is priced by the syringe, and one syringe is enough for most people who want a natural lip. Dr. Vega confirms your exact cost at the consultation, before you commit to anything. Cherry financing is there if you would rather spread it.
Lips talk, eat and move all day, so they tend to metabolize filler faster than quieter parts of the face. You notice the shape softening well before you notice it gone. We plan your refresher around how your own lips held the last one.
For the first day or two, skip strenuous exercise, alcohol and heat, and keep heavy pressure off your lips. Swelling and tenderness early on are normal. You leave with written aftercare, so you are never guessing at home.
If you get cold sores, any injection into the lip can sometimes wake one up. Tell Dr. Vega at your consultation. She can start you on a preventative beforehand so a flare does not interrupt your result.
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, an injectable that prompts your own skin to build collagen. It works across a series of sessions, so firmness and volume come back gradually. At Golden Rose we also use Sculptra for butt injections, a non-surgical BBL.
Sculptra is a biostimulator. Hyaluronic acid filler puts volume in on the day you sit in the chair, and you see it immediately. Sculptra asks your skin to make its own collagen, so the change arrives slowly and reads as your own face.
Longer than hyaluronic acid filler, because the result is your own collagen. The gain builds across your series, then holds for a long stretch before it gradually softens. Dr. Vega sets your maintenance from what she sees at your review.
04
Microneedling & RF
Microneedling runs very fine needles through your skin to make tiny controlled channels. Your body reads them as injury and answers with collagen, which is the point of the whole treatment. Texture and scarring soften as that collagen builds. For deeper concerns Dr. Vega uses Morpheus8, which adds radiofrequency heat below the surface.
Yes, and what the evidence supports is collagen, which is why it helps acne scarring and crepey texture. One visit gives you a start. The result you came in for comes from a planned series, and Dr. Vega sets your depth and spacing to your skin.
In trained hands it is very safe across a wide range of skin tones. It works with your own healing response, so there is no heat or acid on your skin to react to. Your consultation screens your history first, and Dr. Vega will postpone or adjust if something tells her to.
Numbing cream goes on before we start, so most people describe a light scratch or a buzz across the skin. You stay awake and can tell us if anything feels sharp. Redness afterward is normal and settles over the following days.
That depends on what you want changed, because old scarring asks more of your skin than a general refresh. A single traditional session is $375 and a package of three is $949. Dr. Vega gives you the honest number at your consultation.
Keep your skin clean and moisturized, and leave retinoids and acids out of your routine for a few days. Sunscreen matters while you heal, and we use EltaMD here. You go home with written aftercare, so nothing is guesswork.
05
Laser, Peels & Skin Tightening
The laser sends light into the follicle, where the pigment in your hair absorbs it and turns it into heat. That heat disables the follicle's ability to grow another hair. Only follicles in active growth absorb enough. Your hair does not all grow at once, so treatment runs as a series. We use Diolaze.
More than one, and the number depends on the area and your hair. Coarse dark hair on a small area behaves differently from fine hair across your legs. Dr. Vega maps your session plan at the consultation and tells you the full cost before you book.
Once your series is finished the result holds for a long time, and most people come back only for the occasional top-up. Hormones can wake a few follicles back up over the years. One maintenance session usually handles it.
Cost follows the size of the area. An upper lip is a different treatment from a full set of legs, and the number of sessions your hair needs moves the figure too. You leave your consultation with the full price for your plan, and current pricing sits on our treatment pricing page.
There is no evidence that it does. The light is non-ionizing and it stops at the pigment in the follicle, close to the surface of your skin. It does not reach your organs, and current evidence shows it has no effect on your DNA.
A peel puts an acid solution on your skin to loosen the dull outer layer, so fresher skin surfaces as you heal. Strength is the whole decision. Dr. Vega matches the formula to your pigment or your texture, and BioRePeel is one of the formulas we use here.
Energy heats the deeper layers of your skin so it builds new collagen, and firmness returns as that collagen matures. In Apopka we use Morpheus8, which delivers radiofrequency through microneedles, and CoolPeel CO2 for resurfacing. Dr. Vega decides which at your consultation.
Mild to moderate laxity often responds well to collagen-building energy like Morpheus8. Skin that has lost a lot of its support sits past what any non-surgical device can do, and you will hear that plainly at your assessment. Dr. Vega treats the weight side too, so one plan can cover both.
06
Facials & Skin Health
Exosomes are signaling material placed on your skin while microneedling holds those tiny channels open, so they reach living tissue. They carry the signals that push your own repair response harder. Microneedling with exosomes is $500.
A HydroFacial lifts dead surface skin and debris away with suction, then feeds serum straight back into the skin. It sits at the maintenance end of our menu and pairs well with dermaplaning. Priced at your consultation.
We postpone elective treatments like microneedling and laser while you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell us when you book. Dr. Vega maps out the plan you can start once you are through it.
Exosomes push your own repair response, so the change arrives over the weeks after treatment while collagen rebuilds. A planned series holds it longer than one visit. Dr. Vega sets your spacing at the review.
07
Skin Concerns
Collagen does, because a scar is a dent in the structure under your skin. Microneedling builds that structure back, and Morpheus8 carries radiofrequency deeper for heavier scarring. Dr. Vega looks at whether yours are rolling, boxcar or pigmented before she plans anything.
The flat red or brown marks left after a breakout usually fade over months, and daily sunscreen speeds that along. A true indent or a raised scar sits in the structure of your skin. It stays there until something rebuilds it.
Retinol speeds your cell turnover and supports collagen, so shallow scarring and discoloration do improve over months. Deeper texture needs in-clinic work behind it. We can build you a home routine from iS Clinical or Alastin that supports the plan.
Your skin has made extra melanin in one area, so it reads darker than the skin around it. Sun exposure is the usual driver, and hormones sit behind melasma. Sun spots, post-acne marks and hormonal pigment each ask for a different approach.
In-clinic work lifts the pigment already there, and IPL Lumecca is what we reach for on sun damage in Apopka, at $200 to $500 a session. Daily sunscreen is what keeps it from returning. Melasma is stubborn, so Dr. Vega often uses microneedling with Lucente and tells you honestly what maintenance looks like.
Freckles are mostly genetic, and sun exposure darkens them. Sun spots are a separate thing, and those are damage. A spot that is new or changing needs a proper look before anyone treats it cosmetically.
08
Fat Reduction & Body
They break down small pockets of fat that hold on through diet and exercise, like the pad under your chin. Your body clears it gradually across a series of sessions. This is contouring for one area, and weight loss is a separate plan.
The treated fat cells clear through your body and do not come back in that spot. The cells around them can still enlarge if your weight climbs, so a steady weight protects the shape you gained.
Under the chin is the area we treat this way most. Most people need a small series, and Dr. Vega checks first whether the fullness there is fat or loose skin. Priced at your consultation.
09
Wellness & Energy
NAD+ is a coenzyme your cells use to make energy. At Golden Rose it is given as a quick injection, used inside a wellness plan for energy, focus and recovery. Bring it up at your consultation, since it has to suit your medications and your current health.
B12 keeps your nerves healthy and helps your body make red blood cells, and both of those show up as energy. An injection skips your gut, which matters if you absorb it poorly from food. Plenty of patients keep them in a regular rhythm.
Some people feel a lift within a day or two. For others it builds across a course of shots, because a real deficiency takes time to fill. If low energy is your constant, we look at your bloodwork and your hormones too.
Golden Rose Wellness & Medical Spa gives B12 injections at our Apopka clinic, 1706 E Semoran Blvd, Ste 118, Apopka, FL. Book online or call (407) 335-4055. We review your history first to confirm it fits.
